Given both the uncertainty and the rapidly changing nature of COVID-19 in Australia, Muscular Dystrophy NSW (MDNSW) has considered the steps we need to take to ensure the health and safety of our members.

In order to reduce the risk of transmission of the Covid-19 virus to our clients and members, MDNSW is ceasing face to face meetings with clients immediately. All face to face appointments will be moved to alternatives like telephone or video conferencing. If you have an appointment coming up, our team will be in contact with you to make alternative arrangements.

We have also made the difficult decision to close the MDNSW office to external visitors for the next three weeks. MDNSW staff will be working from home wherever possible during this period and will continue to be available by telephone and email.

Unfortunately, this also means many of our events and programs will be cancelled or postponed until such a time as Australian Health advisories give businesses the all clear to resume regular services. We will endeavour to reschedule as many of our events as possible.

The affected events include:

Event Date Status
Mums retreat 20-22 March Postponed indefinitely
Adventure Camp 16-20 April Postponed indefinitely
Siblings Day 23 April Postponed indefinitely
Big Red Roll & Stroll 31 May Cancelled
Couples Retreat No set date Postponed indefinitely
Peer support meetups Cancelled

We understand that this is an extremely difficult and worrying time for everyone.

As the situation is changing rapidly, we will continue to monitor and provide updates to keep you informed.

For now, we would like to reassure everyone that the health and safety of our members, clients, volunteers, staff and the wider community is our top priority!

MDNSW want to assure our community that we are here to support you. Our staff will be available via email and telephone and will continue to provide services and most importantly support to our members and families!

We understand that as the COVID-19 situation develops, many of you will have questions which you would like to ask us. With this in mind, we encourage you to please contact the Client Services team for support and information so we can assist you during this difficult time.
